Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee or Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee refers to coffee blends from coffee beans produced in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. Among them, it is divided into Jamaican blue mountain coffee, Jamaican high mountain supreme coffee beans and jamaica prime washed coffee by grad. 

The Blue Mountains are located in the eastern part of Jamaica and it is named after the mountains surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. Whenever the weather is clear, the sun shines directly on the blue sea and the peaks reflect the bright blue light of the sea. The highest peak of the Blue Mountains is 2256 meters above sea level and it is the highest peak in the Caribbean as a famous tourist attraction. Besides, it is located in an earthquake zone, with fertile volcanic soil, fresh air, humid climate, fog and rain all year round, average precipitation of 1,980 mm and temperature of about 27 degrees,but no pollution. Because of this climate,it generated the world-famous Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee and the world  second most expensive coffee. 

This kind of blue mountain coffee has all the characteristics of good coffee, not only has a strong taste, but also because of the perfect combination of sweet, sour and bitter coffee, it has no bitterness at all, only moderate and perfect acidity.

The history of Blue Mountain Coffee
In the mid-twenties, Jamaica imported Arabica seeds from Martinique and began to promote planting in the St. Andrew area. In 8 years, Jamaica exported more than 375 tons of pure coffee. Coffee production reached its peak in 1932, with more than 15,000 tons of coffee harvested.

Jamaica Coffee Industry Board was established in 1950 to sets quality standards for Jamaican coffee and supervises the implementation of quality standards to ensure the quality of Jamaican coffee.The committee awarded a special official seal to the green coffee and roasted coffee exported from Jamaica, which is the highest-level national coffee institution in the world. And one of the Representatives of the origin of Blue Mountain Coffee is Mavis Bank Coffee Factory (M.B.C.F).

By 1981, about 1,500 hectares of land in Jamaica were reclaimed for coffee cultivation, and another 6,000 hectares of coffee land was subsequently opened up. The other 12,000 hectares of land are used to grow two other types of coffee: Jamaican high mountain supreme coffee beans and jamaica prime washed coffee.

How many type of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee?
There are generally three types of grades of Jamaica Blue Mountain ranked by size and defects,as below:
Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee: Among Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, Blue Mountain Coffee and Jamaican High Mountain are divided into four levels. From top to bottom in terms of quality, they are: NO.1, NO.2, NO.3 and PB. PB is round bean. According to CIB standards, only coffee grown at an altitude of 666 meters is called Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee

Jamaican High Mountain Supreme Coffee Beans:The coffee produced in the area below 666 meters in the Blue Mountains area of Jamaica is called Jamaican High Mountain Supreme Coffee Beans, which is also the quality coffee second only to Blue Mountain Coffee. It is called the brother of Blue Mountain Coffee by industry insiders. Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee produces very little caffeine. Jamaica Prime washed Coffee: Coffee grown in areas outside the Blue Mountains is called Jamaica Prime washed Coffee. Blue Mountain Coffee is mainly distributed in 5 mountainous areas including John Crow, St. John's Peak, Mossman's Peak, High Peak and Blue Mountian Peak in the Blue Mountains.
