The Guatemala coffee has its own position in the world, with San Marcos coffee as one of the best in Guatemala.

The San Marco region has the highest rainfall and warmest of the eight regions in Guatemala. Its soil is more fertile due to ash from a nearby active volcano, Santiaguito.

Seasonal rainfall comes earlier than in other regions, so the coffee tree blooms in this region is the earliest among the eight regions. Due to its remote location, climatic conditions and unpredictable rainfall, most of the estates in this region have their own washing and processing plants. Due to the often unpredictable rains during harvest, the coffee is semi-dried in the yard in the sun and then dried on a Guardiola machine at low temperature.
